Boo’s Camp Compass Scramble Report
Another great event is in the books. The weather cooperated for the four day event that featued a full field of golfers. Weekend entertainment by The Hank Williams Jr. band and Larry the Cable Guy had the standing room only crowds laughing and dancing. Over 90 silent auction items and over 70 live auction items were used to raise money for our kids. Special thanks to ALL of the volunteers that put their energy into this top notch event.
AT&T National Visit
This past weekend found us at the AT&T National in Newton Square, PA. Two outreach students Alec C. and Jed C. were chosen becasue of their interest in golf and their efforts during the school year and at home. We got to see Boo and Tiger warm up side by side and then got to watch a lot of pros playing. Another highlight was the autographs the boys got from different PGA pro’s. Way to go boys!
Gulf Oil Spill Hurts Us TOO!
Recently they closed off shore fishing in the Gulf near Pensacola. 2 of our students EARNED a trip to the Gulf Coast to Fish aboard the Entertainer for the Annual boo weekley visit. Well needless to say they won’t get the opportunity to go because of the oil spill. We tried to have United airlines work with us to rename the already purchased plane tickets for 2 more deserving kids to go next year but to no avail. We did file a claim with BP for the airfare. we will keep you posted!
NRA CERTIFIED
We are always looking at continuing education for our staff. Our staff has completed an accreditied NRA safety course that was taught by volunteer instructor Dean Deturk. All of our hunt mentors have given of their time to garnering a further understanding of laws, jurisdictions and permissions. We have the best team of adults in the world!
Camp Compass North Scramble
Yesterday we had our northern golf scramble with the Walter Seal’s team capturing the first place prize. Marlene Annoni won the logest drive with her ball even beating the men’s long drive leader. Closet to the hole was won by Jeff Mertz with a distance of 12.6 inches. Thanks to all of the donors and supporters for making this event a huge success. To get involved in next year’s northern event email us at info@campcompass.org
Practice Makes Perfect
May is the month where we work on our shooting form and discipline. Every Monday and Thursday you’ll find our students working to develop the skills to move up to the next level. Our dedicated volunteers give their time so that when that “fall moment” arrives our students are ready. Special thanks to Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays and North End Rod and Gun Club for their support. One of our level one students remarked “this beats video games!” Enough said.
